Georgetown wins a $6.9 M grant for construction of the New Science Center
Led by faculty from the Physics and Chemistry departments, Georgetown has won a $6.9 million dollar grant that will help with the construction of the New Science Center (NSC). The grant will fund the Institute for Soft Matter Synthesis and Metrology, I(SM)2, a special research facility to be contained with the NSC. The long-awaited construction of the building will begin on Feb. 1.
2009 National Book Award from Alpha Sigma Nu
Professor James Freericks has won the 2009 national book award from Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society, for his book "Transport in Multilayered Nanostructures: The Dynamical Mean-Field Theory Approach" (Imperial College Press, 2006). Prof. Freericks is the tenth Georgetown faculty member to win this award in the past thirty years.
